Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Tohatchi

Tohatchi entered their tilt with Navajo Pine on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Warriors 10-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 on Monday.

Amir Woodie was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Tohatchi's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Thurmond Bitsie, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Tohatchi's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Navajo Pine, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Tohatchi will welcome Laguna Acoma at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Navajo Pine, they will challenge Thoreau at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thoreau has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.6 runs per game on average), something Navajo Pine will no doubt try to take advantage of.
