Softball Recap: Conway Sets Scoring Season-High Against Socastee

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conway). They never let the Socastee Braves get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Olivia Drew was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brandy Smith was incredible, firing off three home runs and six RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in March. McKenzie Rabon was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Conway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Conway's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Socastee, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-23.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conway will host Green Sea Floyds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Socastee, they will challenge St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
