Baseball Preview: Zanesville Blue Devils vs. Granville Blue Aces

Zanesville is 0-6 against Granville since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Zanesville Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Granville Blue Aces at 5:00 p.m.

Zanesville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against River View on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Bears. Zanesville's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Preston Moorehead was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Moorehead was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Greyson Goines and Canon Mercer did some serious damage despite the final result: Goines went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI, while Mercer scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Granville made easy work of West Muskingum last Saturday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The win was just what Granville needed coming off of a 14-4 loss in their prior game.

Zanesville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-1. As for Granville, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
