Baseball Recap: Standley Lake Gators vs. Littleton Lions
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Standley Lake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Littleton Lions out 8-7. The win was nothing new for Standley Lake as they're now sitting on five straight.
Braeden Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (he also only allowed one walk). Smith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Titus Schrecengost was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Berge, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Like Standley Lake, Littleton also got a great game from a two-way player: Peyton Brooks. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned run off five hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Brooks was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Littleton didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Standley Lake only tossed four.
The victory got Standley Lake back to even at 6-6. As for Littleton, their record is now 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Standley Lake will take on Green Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Green Mountain is coming into the matchup with four straight wins at home, so Standley Lake will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Littleton, they will head out on the road to square off against Pomona at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Littleton is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
