Basketball Game Preview: Papillion-LaVista Monarchs vs. Lincoln Lynx

The Papillion-LaVista Monarchs will take on the Lincoln Lynx at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Papillion-LaVista, who comes in off a win.

Papillion-LaVista is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since January 27, 2024 on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Buena Vista 74-29. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Bison are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lincoln was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Saturday as they fell 54-50 to Omaha Central. The Lynx were up 23-8 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Papillion-LaVista will have to contain Hutson Rau as she made an impact in Lincoln's last game. She made all 5 shots she took for 11 points and seven rebounds. Rau has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Hamilton, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Papillion-LaVista now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lincoln, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
