Dynamic duo of Mekhi Butler and Jaden Staten lead Godby to victory

Recap: Godby Cougars vs. Chiles Timberwolves

The Godby Cougars won the last time they faced the Chiles Timberwolves, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Godby took down Chiles 61-47. Given Godby's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Chiles is ranked 447th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Godby to victory were Mekhi Butler and Jaden Staten. Butler scored 13 points, while Staten scored 14 points. The matchup was Butler's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Damien Shepherd, who scored eight points.

Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabe Parks, who scored 18 points. Parks scored a full 38.3% of Chiles' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Davis McNeely was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.

The victory makes it two in a row for Godby and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Chiles, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Godby is on the road again on December 21st and play against Munroe at 6:45 p.m. on December 21st. As for Chiles, they will take on Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
