Softball Game Preview: Bexley Lions vs. Franklin Heights Falcons

Bexley is on a ten-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Franklin Heights a 13-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Bexley Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Franklin Heights Falcons at 5:15 p.m. Bexley has given up an average of 14.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Monday, Bexley came up short against Buckeye Valley and fell 11-8.

Bexley got a big performance out of Kyra Duffee, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Davaney Prophet, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Franklin Heights fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Whitehall-Yearling on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-4.

Calaya Salley was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out 17 batters over nine innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Salley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Jalynn Ward was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. McKayla Lemon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Franklin Heights' loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Bexley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Bexley came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklin Heights in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 16-14. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
