Softball Game Preview: Beresford Watchdogs vs. Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy

The Beresford Watchdogs will take on Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Beresford will be strutting in after a victory while Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Beresford is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Elk Point-Jefferson, who was ranked 25th at the time (Beresford was ranked 24th). The Watchdogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Huskies a 7-0 shutout on Friday.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 11-3 to Hanson.

Beresford pushed their record up to 9-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1.

Everything went Beresford's way against Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Beresford made off with a 16-4 win.
