Basketball Game Preview: Marysville Indians vs. Oakmont Vikings

The Marysville Indians will head out on the road to take on the Oakmont Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marysville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Oakmont likes a good challenge.

Marysville is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Bear River just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins.

Despite the defeat, Marysville had strong showings from Abigail Pietz, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals, and Demi Boykin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Pietz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 48 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Valencia, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, Oakmont lost to Lincoln at home by a 59-43 margin on Wednesday.

Marysville's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Oakmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.

Marysville took their victory against Oakmont in their previous meeting on January 10th by a conclusive 69-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marysville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
