Softball Game Preview: Oak Harbor Rockets vs. Wheelersburg Pirates

The Oak Harbor Rockets will challenge the Wheelersburg Pirates at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Oak Harbor sitting on four straight wins and Wheelersburg on 26.

Oak Harbor is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Fairbanks 6-5.

Morgan Lalonde made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. Lalonde was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karder Haas, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Tatum Baumgartner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Meanwhile, Wheelersburg made easy work of Wellston on Sunday and carried off a 7-1 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Wheelersburg's victory bumped their record up to 26-0. As for Oak Harbor, their win bumped their record up to 24-6.
