Volleyball Recap: Paetow Takes a Loss

After flying high against Katy on Tuesday, Paetow came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the Katy Taylor Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.

Paetow was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Katy Taylor work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 27-25, 19-25, 15-6.

When it comes to explaining why Paetow lost, don't look at Francesca Easterbrook. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs and six assists. Easterbrook has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Katy Taylor can attribute much of their success to Sydney Herleth, who had 22 digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Herleth a new career-high.

Paetow's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Katy Taylor, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-15 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Paetow is set to square off against their familiar foe Jordan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Katy Taylor will take on rival Tompkins at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
