Softball Recap: East Windsor Comes Up Short

East Windsor had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it 14. They lost 20-6 to the Windham RVT Mighty Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Windham RVT, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Windham RVT's part, Taya Hunting was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hunting has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Windham RVT let Cassie Descheneaux and Genna Sargent run wild. Descheneaux got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Sargent went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Descheneaux a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Carroll, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While East Windsor had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
