Baseball Recap: El Paso-Gridley Comes Up Short

El Paso-Gridley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Pontiac on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Mason Vandegraft put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Vandegraft was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Vandegraft wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Adams, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

El Paso-Gridley has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Pontiac, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

El Paso-Gridley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against St. Bede on the 1st. As for Pontiac, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 8-3 loss against Mt. Pulaski on the 1st.
