Basketball Recap: Whittell Falls Despite Big Games from Evander Lezama-Demazo and Rocky Laremore

Whittell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Excel Christian Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Whittell this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-27 back in January.

Despite the loss, Whittell had strong showings from Rocky Laremore, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Evander Lezama-Demazo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Lezama-Demazo a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Whittell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Whittell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Excel Christian, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-17.

As of now, neither Whittell nor Excel Christian have any future games scheduled.
