Basketball Recap: Independence Gets the Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Independence ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past the Kenston Bombers with a 62-58 win.

Kenston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Ellis, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points. Braelyn Akins was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Kenston, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-7.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-57 defeat against Fairview on the 17th. Kenston has also already played their next matchup, a 73-43 loss against Riverside on the 14th.
