Softball Recap: Desert Edge Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Desert Edge can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against the Youngker Roughriders as they made off with a 17-6 win. The Scorpions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Roughriders, too.

Aliyah Fatigoni (2027) made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Azerae Cantrell (2027) was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Samantha Ochoa was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Desert Edge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Youngker only posted an OBP of .333.

Desert Edge's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Youngker, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Desert Edge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Roughriders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
