Volleyball Recap: Phoenix Academy Takes a Loss

Phoenix Academy came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals, falling 3-0. The Firebirds have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Phoenix Academy's offense was headlined by Destiny Kinsey and Kris'Chelle Powe, who picked up two kills apiece. They got some help from Oliviyanna Ferreira and her two assists.

Cornerstone Charter had a senior duo take command as Ashley Belland had 11 aces and four digs and Aubrey Kimball had eight assists and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Kimball.

Phoenix Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Cornerstone Charter, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

Phoenix Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cornerstone Charter, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Leadership Academy on the 15th.
