Softball Game Preview: Stringer Red Devils vs. Raleigh Lions

The Stringer Red Devils will challenge the Raleigh Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stringer knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Raleigh likes a good challenge.

If Stringer beats Raleigh with 12 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Red Devils never let Richton get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Raleigh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Seminary 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since April 1, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Haylee Buffington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of SC McAllister, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Raleigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Stringer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Raleigh, their win bumped their record up to 12-16.
