Basketball Recap: Eastbrook Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Malakai Luthy and Jayden Younce

Eastbrook was the 43-38 winner over Oak Hill when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eastbrook Panthers took a 53-37 bruising from the Oak Hill Golden Eagles on Friday.

Jayden Younce and Malakai Luthy certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Younce posted 11 points, while Luthy had nine points. That's the most points Luthy has posted since back in January of 2024.

Oak Hill found their leader in sophomore Jace Tonagel, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. Tonagel's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was RJ Shugart, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points.

Eastbrook now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Oak Hill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Eastbrook won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oak Hill, they will take on Southwood at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.
