Softball Recap: Susquehannock Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

While Susquehannock put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for York Suburban. The Warriors put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-0 win. Considering the Warriors have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Wetzel made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Callie Shue was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Mia Wetzel also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Susquehannock, bringing their record up to 11-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for York Suburban, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Susquehannock will host Spring Grove at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for York Suburban, they will welcome Dover at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.71 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
