Basketball Recap: Rural Retreat Comes Up Short

If Rural Retreat was feeling good fresh off their 46-19 takedown of Eastern Montgomery last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rural Retreat Indians took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bland County Bears on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-32 on December 2nd.

Rural Retreat has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Bland County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Rural Retreat will take on Rye Cove in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bland County, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on George Wythe at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
