Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wilson Christian Academy walked away with it. They walked away with a 52-41 win over Hilltop Christian on Friday. Given Wilson Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Hilltop Christian is ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lizzy Jernigan, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jamie Lewis, who put up 13 points and six rebounds.

Wilson Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points on average over those games. Hilltop Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-13.

Looking ahead, Wilson Christian Academy will face off against Wilmington Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
