Basketball Recap: Clairemont Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Omar Rodarte and Blake Murphy

After a string of three wins, Clairemont's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Kearny Komets by a score of 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Chieftains have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Clairemont's loss came despite strong showings from Blake Murphy and Omar Rodarte. Murphy dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Rodarte posted 22 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Rodarte a new career-high in points. Colton Daudet also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Clairemont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearny only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

Kearny was led to victory by Caleb Fluhr and Cameron Ackerman. Fluhr almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards, while Ackerman put up 15 points and four steals. Arthur Minton was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Clairemont now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Kearny, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Clairemont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-25 victory against Logan Memorial Education Campus on the 24th. Kearny has also already played their next contest, a 67-53 win against Morse on the 24th.
