Basketball Recap: Charleston Collegiate Comes Up Short

Charleston Collegiate had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-9 to make it six. They were outmatched by the Porter-Gaud Cyclones and fell 56-9. The Sundevils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-4.

Vika Vuyiv was Charleston Collegiate's leading scorer, having posted five points.

As for Porter-Gaud, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-16 record this season. That 47-point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Porter-Gaud got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily Manuel out in front who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave Manuel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Speights, who had nine points.

Charleston Collegiate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-19 win against Faith Christian on the 6th. As for Porter-Gaud, they have also already played their next contest, a 50-23 victory against Pinewood Prep on the 6th.
