North Tama's Paul Kaufmann outdoes Dunkerton's Bryce Rigdon in a game of 'can-you-top-this?'
Talk about being the ultimate up-stager.
Dunkerton (Iowa) leading scorer
Bryce Rigdon had stunned most of the fans at
North Tama (Traer, Iowa) on Tuesday with an improbable over-the-shoulder flip in the key that bounced around and fell through with less than five seconds left in the third quarter.
Rigdon's shot looked like one you'd make up in a game of H-O-R-S-E.
While fans were digesting that shot, North Tama's leading scorer
Paul Kaufmann was scrambling to get off a desperation heave.
He inbounded the ball, got a quick return pass and launched an 80-footer that swished through the hoop as the horn sounded that helped North Tama to a 69-53 win.
"The crowd went insane when Paul made the shot," North Tama coach Brandon Clubb told MaxPreps. "They were stunned by the shot that Bryce made a second before, then they went wild when Paul made his shot.
"Paul was just trying to get a shot off and knew it was a ‘long shot.' "
Was it ever.
