Softball Game Preview: Monticello Magic vs. Princeton Tigers

The Monticello Magic will take on the Princeton Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Monticello nor Princeton posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Monticello blew Becker out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Becker got their revenge. The Magic fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. The Magic have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Josi Ordorff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Monticello saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma McLoed, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Princeton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 9-1 to Anoka.

Monticello now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Princeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Monticello suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Princeton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Magic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
