Basketball Recap: Elba Takes a Loss

Elba lost against Heartland Lutheran back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elba Bluejays had to suffer through a 77-40 loss at the hands of the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Elba lost, don't look at Addison Wysocki. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 15 en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was JarahLynn Morrow, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Heartland Lutheran was led to victory by Abigail Uden and Ella Francl. Uden went 8 for 17 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals, while Francl went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Francl a new career-high in points. Ema Marie Koch was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Elba's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Heartland Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

Elba will welcome Twin Loup at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heartland Lutheran, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-23 win against Palmer on the 6th.
