Game recap: Fourth quarter seals big victory for Beaumont over Banning

Beaumont (Calif.) put up zero points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 56-28 victory over Banning (Calif.).

After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter, the Cougars led 44-40 at the half.

Beaumont put up 44 points in the first quarter en route to the win. The Cougars scored on a touchdown run, a rushing touchdown, a touchdown run, a rushing touchdown, a touchdown run, a passing touchdown, a touchdown run by Joe Jeffers and a rushing touchdown in the quarter.

Beaumont's most effective player was Jeffers. The junior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.

The Broncos' Sty Hairston was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to 12 on the year.



The Cougars also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 38-0.

The victory was a step in the right direction for Beaumont, which was coming off a 37-16 defeat at the hands of Heritage in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Banning, which notched a 62-32 victory over Cathedral City in its previous outing. The loss snapped Banning's 2-game winning streak.

Beaumont (3-1) goes up against Yucaipa in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Banning (2-1) locks horns with Shadow Hills also in a non-conference game.
