Flag Football Game Preview: Jurupa Hills Spartans vs. Kaiser Cats

Two dominant wideouts in Jaylene Murillo and Valeria Guevara are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Jurupa Hills Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Kaiser Cats at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Jurupa Hills will be strutting in after a victory while Kaiser will be coming in after a loss.

Jurupa Hills will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Rim of the World on Tuesday. The Spartans blew past the Fighting Scots, posting a 38-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Emelie Castrejon went supernova, throwing for 289 yards and six TDs while completing 73.1% of her passes. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in passer rating (148.9).

Jurupa Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kamaya Johns and Jazel Lopez. Johns is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Kaiser was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 25-19 to Summit. The loss was the Cats' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Kaiser fell to 13-1. As for Jurupa Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Jurupa Hills beat Kaiser 18-6 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
