Basketball Game Preview: Middle Park Panthers vs. Englewood Pirates

The Middle Park Panthers will face off against the Englewood Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Middle Park's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Middle Park took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 83-26 victory over Platte Canyon. With the Panthers ahead 38-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Englewood was able to grind out a solid win over Arrupe Jesuit on Thursday, taking the game 49-39.

Middle Park better keep an eye on Soren Singer. He was instrumental in Englewood's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 18 boards. Singer is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Nathan Owens was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Englewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Middle Park is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Englewood, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.

Middle Park took their win against Englewood in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 65-42. Does Middle Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Englewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
