Basketball Game Preview: Oswego Panthers vs. St. Charles East Fighting Saints

The Oswego Panthers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the St. Charles East Fighting Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Oswego took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They strolled past Joliet West with points to spare, taking the game 68-50. The Panthers pushed the score to 66-38 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Charles East). They blew past Geneva 72-44 on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Fighting Saints who have now won four contests in a row.

St. Charles East's win came from a few key players Oswego will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Corinne Reed, who went 8 of 10 en route to 19 points and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Schilb, who went 9 of 11 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Oswego has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for St. Charles East, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
