Softball Recap: Jefferson Dragons vs. Chamberlain Storm
Jefferson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Chamberlain Storm 7-6. That's more bragging rights for Jefferson, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Daijah Madry made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off five hits. Madry has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Madry was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Amaris Dominguez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Like Jefferson, Chamberlain also got a great game from a two-way player: Daria Bush. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Bush was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
