Basketball Recap: Northwood Academy Starts Season with Victory Against St. John's Christian Academy

Northwood Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They breezed past the St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers to the tune of 69-10.

Northwood Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maliyah Birch out in front who shot 67% from the field en route to 19 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Those 67% shooting accuracy gave Birch a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Clarke, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Northwood Academy will venture away from home to face off against Bishop England at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John's Christian Academy, they will head out to take on Calhoun Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
