Basketball Recap: South Hardin Comes Up Short

If South Hardin was riding high fresh off their 69-12 takedown of East Marshall last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Hardin Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 47-46 to the Grundy Center Spartans. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, South Hardin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ayda Eller posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Eller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Grace Eller was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points.

South Hardin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Grundy Center, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

South Hardin has already played their next game (against Gladbrook-Reinbeck), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Grundy Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-21 victory against Columbus on the 24th.
