Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Lawrence County's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Wolfe County Wolves by a score of 6-2. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Wolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Boedy Maynard made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Gray Derifield was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Eli Fletcher, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one double.

Lawrence County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Wolfe County, their record is now 17-9.
