Volleyball Recap: Imperial Starts Season with Victory Against La Quinta

Imperial had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the La Quinta Blackhawks on Wednesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Blackhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Imperial not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept La Quinta between 15 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.

Maci-Jo Clayton paced Imperial's offense, picking up nine kills. Clayton got some help from Chyenne Cox and her 14 assists. Maddie Magdaleno controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

When it comes to explaining why La Quinta lost, don't look at Ana Chavez. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs.

La Quinta's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Imperial will host Liberty Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Quinta, they will take on Arlington in a tournament on Saturday.
