Soccer Game Preview: Southwest vs. Archbishop McCarthy

The Southwest Eagles and the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Southwest's offense. They fell just short of Braddock by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Southwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Braddock are ranked 150th).

Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy and Somerset Academy - Canyons finished up their matchup with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

The Mavericks' goal came courtesy of CHARLES BONFIGLIO, who's now up to four this season.

Archbishop McCarthy's draw makes their record 7-1-2 this season. As for Southwest, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
