Baseball Game Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. New Manchester Jaguar

For the second straight game, Alexander will face off against New Manchester. The Cougars will host the Jaguar at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alexander has three straight victories, New Manchester has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Alexander earned a 6-1 win over New Manchester.

Ethan Lower spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexander's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jon Bemus, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Bemus has posted since back in March. Another was Josh Sellers, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Alexander's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-15. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Manchester, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
