Basketball Recap: Hinkley Comes Up Short

Hinkley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 49-39 to the Montbello Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-54 last Monday.

When it comes to explaining why Hinkley lost, don't look at Malachi Holden. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hinkley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Micah Martinez had a dynamite game for Montbello, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 21 boards. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Turohn Shinalut, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Hinkley's record now sits at 0-15. As for Montbello, their victory bumped their record up to 3-15.

Hinkley will head out on the road to square off against Westminster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montbello, they will welcome Denver North at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
