Recap: Cigarroa Toros vs. Palmview Lobos
The Cigarroa Toros were the 64-46 winner over the Palmview Lobos when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cigarroa took a hard 57-42 fall against Palmview on Friday. While losing is never fun, Cigarroa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Palmview is ranked 183rd).
Palmview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jocelyn Rojas led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five steals. Rojas continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nicole Flores, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Cigarroa has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Palmview, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 24-5.
Cigarroa will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Roma at 7:30 p.m. Roma is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Palmview, they will head out on the road to face off against Rio Grande City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Grande City is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
