Basketball Game Preview: Steele Knights vs. Harlingen Cardinals

Two dominant guards in Maurice Eddie and Luis Rodriguez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Steele Knights will challenge the Harlingen Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Steele knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 31 contests -- so hopefully Harlingen likes a good challenge.

Steele is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They strolled past United with points to spare, taking the game 67-52. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Longhorns are ranked 177th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Harlingen duked it out with Weslaco on Tuesday. Harlingen narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Weslaco 47-44. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Harlingen pushed their record up to 28-6 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points over those games. As for Steele, their victory bumped their record up to 30-5.
