Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madisonville-North Hopkins). They blew past the Livingston Central Cardinals 24-13 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Maroons in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Matthew Yates was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madisonville-North Hopkins got a massive performance out of Evan Lear, who got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Lear a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kolby Jarvis, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Madisonville-North Hopkins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Madisonville-North Hopkins now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Livingston Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

The Maroons are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Livingston Central, they will challenge Obion County at 3:40 p.m. on Saturday.
