Softball Game Preview: Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions vs. Design Tech Dragons

The Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Design Tech Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Luis Valdez Leadership Academy couldn't beat El Primero on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Lions lost 15-5 to the Lobos. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Design Tech entered their match against Harker on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dragons fell 12-7 to the Eagles.

Jeneva Fletcher put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 2-for-2.

Fletcher wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ella Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lewis has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another was Angelica Soto, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Design Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
