Basketball Recap: Millard North's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millard North). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Burke Bulldogs 87-29. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Millard North was led to victory by Izzie Galligan and Avril Smith. Galligan went 6 of 7 on her way to 16 points and three steals, while Smith dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Smith also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Sara Harley, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Millard North was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burke only posted three assists.

Loss or not, Burke got some senior leadership from LaNasia Wilson and Hevin Ketchum. Wilson went 7 for 17 en route to 16 points, while Ketchum put up eight points and three steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Wilson.

The win was the tenth in a row for Millard North, bringing their record for this year to 17-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Burke, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Millard North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-56 victory against Omaha North on the 11th. As for Burke, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-29 loss against Elkhorn South on the 7th.
