Softball Recap: Grant Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Grant's offense. They lost 10-0 to the West Ouachita Chiefs on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Peyton Kirtland spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Even though they lost, Grant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in six consecutive games.

Grant's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for West Ouachita, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant will challenge Natchitoches Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Ouachita, they will venture away from home to square off against Tioga at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Tioga has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
