Basketball Recap: McCurtain Bulldogs vs. Buffalo Valley Buffaloes
McCurtain and Buffalo Valley squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but McCurtain had to settle for second. They took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-35 back in November of 2024.
Leading Buffalo Valley to victory were Raelea Johnson and Tristyn Kirkes. Johnson went 5-for-6 on her way to 12 points and eight boards, while Kirkes dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds gave Kirkes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kya Andrews, who posted six points.
McCurtain has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season. The victory (which was Buffalo Valley's fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-7.
McCurtain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buffalo Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-53 loss against Smithville on the 24th.
