League recap: Congdon throws longest pass in league this season for Lake Gibson

Fans got a thrill when Trey Congdon and Jeremy Crissey connected against Palmetto. The connection went for 67 yards, the longest such play in 6A District 11 this season.

Lake Gibson was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Braves defeated the Panthers 42-3.

Lake Gibson's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Congdon threw for 266 and 3 touchdowns and Crissey had 104 yards receiving. On the ground Derrien Bomar contributed 80 yards. Sammie Jackson helped Lake Gibson's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 92 yards.

He was 15-24 with 1 interception.

Bomar was the best running back in the league this week. In 8 carries, he ran for 80 yards as Keith DeMyer's team topped Palmetto. Chris Clarke also contributed to the rushing game with 26 yards on the ground.

Lake Gibson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Congdon has thrown for 503 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Crissey has 8 catches for 177 yards.

The Braves are currently in second, while Winter Haven is in third.

Lake Gibson took down the Panthers 42-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Congdon in the win.
