Volleyball Game Preview: Lockport Porters vs. Lincoln-Way East Griffins

The Lockport Porters will head out to face off against the Lincoln-Way East Griffins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Lockport will head out to face Lincoln-Way East after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Porters fell just short of Lincoln-Way Central by a score of 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Porters' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Lockport started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-18, 25-15.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Drew Miller, who had nine digs and three assists. Jaydon Lopez also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way East faced Sandburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Griffins walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Eagles. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Lincoln-Way East pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lockport, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Lockport skirted past Lincoln-Way East 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Porters since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
