Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Southmont's Fourth in Last Five Outings

If Frankfort wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Southmont, they should've done a better job of containing Ella Barry. The Southmont Mounties blew past the Frankfort Hot Dogs 64-28 on Thursday thanks in part to Barry, who went 12 for 17 on her way to 30 points. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Link, who posted no points and five assists. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.

Ava Jarman and Ella Mcatee certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Jarman went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points and six rebounds, while Mcatee scored 12 points and eight steals. That was a full 53.6% of Frankfort's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Southmont is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Frankfort, they dropped their record down to 0-21 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Southmont has already played their next match, a 57-27 win against Crawfordsville on the 25th. Frankfort has also already played their next contest (against Logansport), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
