Preview: Riverview Gardens Rams vs. Mater Dei Knights
The Riverview Gardens Rams will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Mater Dei Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-24, which was the final score in Riverview Gardens' tilt against Edwardsville on Monday. While losing is never fun, Riverview Gardens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 331st in Missouri, while Edwardsville is ranked 129th in Illinois).
Meanwhile, Mater Dei ended up a good deal behind Collinsville on Thursday and lost 52-36.
Elliott Rakers put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Drake Wagner, who scored six points.
Mater Dei struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Riverview Gardens' record now sits at 2-5. Mater Dei's record is now 5-7.
